Cancellation & Refunds
Life gets in the way of lessons — illness, exams, family plans. This page sets out exactly what happens if a lesson needs to be cancelled or moved, and what you pay. In short: give us a day's notice and nothing is charged.

Which rules apply to you
Your first two sessions are free, so no payment is involved and nothing can be charged to you. Once you continue beyond them, each lesson is £20 and is paid for in advance by card. The rules below apply to paid lessons.
Free sessions
If a free session no longer suits you, just email us as soon as you can and we will move it or cancel it — there is nothing to refund and no charge of any kind. If you decide not to continue after the two free sessions, that is completely fine: there is no subscription and no obligation to book again.
Paid lessons cancelled with notice
Cancel or move a paid lesson with at least 12 hours notice and you are not charged. If the lesson has already been paid for you can choose either:
- a free reschedule to another available time, or
- a full refund to the card you paid with.
Paid lessons cancelled late
With less than 12 hours notice the lesson is charged at the full £20, because the time has already been set aside and cannot usually be offered to anyone else. In that situation a refund is not due, though we will always try to move the lesson if you ask.
The same applies if a student does not join the Google Meet call and does not let us know beforehand — the lesson is treated as taken.
If a lesson is cancelled at short notice by us
Occasionally something unavoidable happens. If a lesson is cancelled or shortened at short notice by the tutor, you get a full refund for that lesson or a priority reschedule to the next suitable time — your choice. Refunds are not conditional on finding another slot.
Illness and emergencies
The notice period is there to protect teaching time, not to punish anyone. If a student is unwell, has an exam clash, or there is a genuine emergency, email us and we will use common sense — usually a reschedule rather than a charge, especially if it is not a pattern.
How to cancel or move a lesson
Email yusrakhandakar@yktutors.com with the student's name and the date and time of the lesson, and tell us whether you would like it moved or refunded. We will confirm back by email.
When refunds arrive
Refunds go back to the original card through Stripe. They are issued promptly and typically appear within 5 to 10 working days, depending on your bank.
Statutory rights
Nothing in this policy affects your legal rights. Because lessons are booked to a specific date and time, the usual 14-day cooling-off period for online purchases does not apply once a lesson has been agreed — but the notice rules above give you a clear and fair way out well before the lesson.
