Privacy Policy

YK Tutors (trading at yktutors.co.uk) is the data controller for the information described here. It is a sole trader business run by Yusra Khandakar, providing online GCSE Maths tuition in England.

The best way to reach us about anything in this policy is by email to yusrakhandakar@yktutors.com.

We only ask for what is needed to arrange and teach a lesson:

• the student's name
• the parent's or guardian's name, if you choose to give one
• an email address for booking confirmations and lesson links
• the exam board and level (AQA or Edexcel, Foundation or Higher)
• the date and time you choose
• anything you write in the optional message box

We do not ask for your home address or phone number, and we do not store card or bank details on this website.

Under UK data protection law we rely on the following reasons, none of which involve marketing:

• Performing a contract: booking the lesson, sending your Google Meet link, and teaching the session.
• Our legitimate interests: replying to your questions and making sure the lesson is suitable and safe.
• A legal obligation: keeping records of payments for tax and accounting.

Every email we send you relates to a booking or a question you raised. We do not send newsletters or promotions.

When a lesson needs to be paid for, payment is taken through Stripe. Stripe handles the card details securely; we receive only confirmation that the payment succeeded, the amount, and a payment reference so we can match it to your booking.

Your information is not sold, rented or shared for advertising. It is seen by us and by the small number of services needed to run the lessons:

• Google, for the calendar entry, the Google Meet video call and lesson emails
• Stripe, for card payments and receipts
• our website hosting provider, which stores the booking record securely

Some of these providers process data outside the United Kingdom. Where they do, they use recognised safeguards such as UK adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.

This website does not use analytics, advertising cookies, social media trackers or any other third-party tracking. Nothing is placed on your device to follow you around the internet. Cookies and similar storage are used only where strictly necessary to take a payment or keep a booking working.

Most students are under 18. Where a parent or guardian is involved, we ask for their name and include them in booking communications so an adult always knows when a lesson is happening and how to join it. We collect nothing beyond what is listed above, and a parent or guardian can ask us at any time to correct or delete their child's booking record.

Booking details, the lesson record and payment confirmations are kept for up to six years because UK tax and accounting rules require it. Correspondence is kept only as long as it is useful for teaching and administration. After that, records are deleted.

The website is served over HTTPS, access to booking records is restricted to the tutor and the systems that need them, and payment credentials are never held on this site. No method of transmission is completely secure, but we keep only what we need and use reputable, established providers for the rest.

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct anything wrong, ask us to delete it, ask us to stop using it in a particular way, or ask for it in a portable format. Write to us at the email above and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

If this policy changes, the updated date at the top of the page will change with it. The version published at yktutors.co.uk is always the one in force.
